Working by Commission
Jobi accepts a limited number of commissions each year across bronze, stone, and sumi ink. Each piece begins as a conversation about material, scale, and site, and develops slowly — in keeping with the pace of the work itself.
Commissions are considered on a case-by-case basis and are limited in number each year, in order to preserve the time and attention each piece requires.
Process. Every commission begins with a conversation — about the space the piece will inhabit, the material it calls for, and the timeline available. From there, Jobi develops sketches, material studies, or small maquettes before any final work begins. Larger stone or bronze pieces are typically developed over several months; sumi works move on a shorter timeline.
Materials. Bronze casting, worked stone (basalt, sandstone, marble), and sumi ink on paper are the primary mediums. Each commission is approached on its own terms — material is chosen for what it can hold, not simply for finish.
Scale & Placement. Past commissions have ranged from small hand-held bronze objects to larger stone works intended for outdoor or architectural settings. Site visits can be arranged for larger or site-specific pieces.
